I hope you found it as entertaining and fun to read as last night’s especially long shootout was fun to watch. Thank you, kind readers of this page, for indulging in this little column experiment of mine. Several hours later, as the heat from the Islanders’ loss was at its coolest, I texted Jimmy one final time for his permission to use our exchanges as fodder for a hopefully entertaining post on Bolts by the Bay.īut inside, I knew, his “haha” was of the bitterest variety known to man. Though I knew in his heart of hearts that nothing but blind rage seethed through his every pore. Stammer scores next with his spin-o-rama. ME: Save!!!!! Bishop didn’t even know where it was. I knew the Isles would bring it.Īfter OT, the game moved to the shootout, and here is how it mostly played out for the two of us in short exchanges. Makes me a wreck but ultimately these two teams play really good hockey against each other. Our silent tempers, our unspoken discontent, our barely contained fury slowly begins to simmer down as the game moves to overtime. And Marty hasn’t even scored a goal for the Rangers yet. Later, a shot breaks Tyler Johnson’s skate, forcing his blade to shoot across the ice. Tampa just needs to put breathing players on the ice in the third and they’ll win. Isles will forget how to play hockey in the third period. They have it under control for awhile during most games, maybe a whole period, but I rarely see it for 60 min. ME: Big issue with the Lightning this season: Collapses in team defense at the worst possible time, giving teams opportunities. Had to work to get that waived off goal back. Jimmy: The Isles had three good plays in a row. ME: Nine times out of 10, you turn over the puck that close to your goaltender, you’re giving the other team a goal. Jimmy: Those are the situations where so many mistakes and plays…you know something bad is going to happen. Deliberate blackout on all incoming and outgoing communication by both parties. Icy silence ensued for several of the next few minutes. ME: I’m trying to make sense of what the redacted just happened. ME: Isles looking good on this penalty kill. ME: Well, we’re back to where we started. Jimmy: I hope he turns into the next John Tavares like he’s hyped to be. He brings something we didn’t have before, that’s for sure. I totally appreciate the dynamic he brings to the team. The Lightning have been losing leads lately like some people lose their car keys. Jimmy: What happened? I’m indisposed at the moment.

Co-produced by the latter, Polow created the perfect theme song for Usher’s brazen escapade. Two years after topping the Hot 100 with “Love in the Club,” Usher and Polow da Don reunite on the ominously seductive single. Whether it’s the staccato vocal performance, the abundance of synths or the cheering crowd, you can’t deny the urge to bust a move. Masterminded by will.i.am, this EDM banger completely deviates from the majority of Usher’s library but we get reminded of his roots at the 3:12 mark. “OMG” is not only one of the most popular songs of 2010, but it’s also one of the most successful songs of Usher’s career, becoming his ninth Hot 100 topper. Talk about the genre-blend overload of R&B and dance-pop with a dash of auto-tune. Usher is no stranger to pouring his life into his music, as Confessions was an evident example, but this single was personally intimate. Providing the track’s mellow buoyancy, the true-to-life lyrics make up for the linear production. Usher nails the execution of emotion, but the spirit of the buzz single falls flat. He shared with MTV in 2010 that the song was actually written and recorded prior to his marriage ending. “Papers” is one of the few songs that somewhat touches on his marital woes. Usher was enduring his divorce shortly before the creation of Raymond v Raymond, which had people speculating if that would be the main topic of the album. His signature sound is much preferred among his day-one fans but tracks like “More” show there are multiple facets to his talent. Given its infectious sound, the single leaves much to the imagination with its simplistic lyrics and easy-going melody. As a part of Usher’s electro-dance catalog, “More” is a catchy, horn-heavy tune that broadens his capabilities as an artist. If the high-energy dance track sounds somewhat familiar, the song was used in commercials to promote the 2010 NBA All-Star Game. To celebrate the anniversary of Raymond v Raymond, below are his singles ranked from the album. Raymond won Album of the Year at the Soul Train Awards later that year and Best Contemporary R&B Album at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards in 2011.įrom the melodic mid-tempo “Making Love (Into the Night)” to the slinky “Pro Lover,” Usher made it clear that he hadn’t lost his sly, yet irresistible euphonic charm. As his last platinum -selling album, Raymond v. He led Billboard’s year-end tally in 2010 as the top R&B male performer, proving the necessary redirection worked in his favor. In relation to the romantic struggles between man and woman, the album is about “ the honesty a man has to have.”įinally, back from what he seemingly considered an unexpected fall from grace, Usher reminded listeners why they continued to follow his journey with an expected comeback. He didn’t want his personal life to directly influence the music. Met with a lackluster response and a finalized separation, Usher gave fans what they wanted and returned to his ladies’ man persona but with a seasoned approach.Įven though the multi-awarded superstar was going through a highly publicized divorce from Tameka Foster, Raymond v Raymond wasn’t a mirror reflection of his situation. The album didn’t exactly meet the expectations fans and critics were highly anticipating. He shifted gears content-wise on Here I Stand, replacing his enticing playboy lines for mature lyrics on family and monogamy. His music sold a fantasy of sorts, through a role that briefly subsided when he became a father and husband.ĭuring the short-lived union, it caused Usher to reevaluate the direction his music was taking, deciding to lend to a serious side that was yet to be seen. He ascended to mega-stardom in 2004 with the certified diamond album Confessions, cementing his rightful place in the R&B hall of fame. Transforming into a global entertainer, his swanky confidence and lucid imagery had women wishing his songs were about them and men wishing they were just as composed. Usher Raymond has been known to appeal to his female fanbase, embarking on his career as a teenage heartthrob with a voice that could rival both his contemporaries and influences. “If you bring back what people loved about you and remind them nothing’s changed, then they’re right back where they were before. Raymon d, I’m coming back to what people know me for,” Usher shared with The New York Times. If you would like any additional assistance, please reach out to us at or 92. The main character that you play is really well animated and has a very good range of animated movement and small-animated idle movements. All of the characters in the game look like they are right out of a well-drawn comic book. The Enemy soldiers are really funny to watch, as they mock or talk to each other, or just sit idle around a fire trying to heat some coffee. Enemy Soldiers are alive and will do their own things, making them seem alive and smart, which is quite something for a platform game. The excellently drawn characters in metal slug actually are characters that you will remember and hate or love in a game, and are not some stupid moving obstacles like other games have. One of the first things I really enjoyed had to be the well-animated graphics that are good even compared to some machines like the PS2. It is no doubt a cult classic for any arcade Aficionado that knows the Neo-Geo and many people will almost instantly recognize it even thought they might have played it only once. Metal Slug SV-001 is a Side scrolling Action Arcade Game that debuted on the Neo-Geo Arcade and AES machines. Every other weapon besides the pistol looks like the same gun as the heavy machinegun! and maybe having the chance to go back and forth instead of forever being pushed forward would have been good. The plot could have been worked on, and sometimes it can be really hard. The interactive levels, Excellent animations and the straight forward gameplay are bar non awesome! The sound and music is all really well done and playing is fun and addictive. Another added that “For the price you might as well buy the big one.”, which may apply to anyone who has the space for a bigger mixer, as the comparable cost doesn’t necessarily drop by a considerable amount even though there is an obvious difference in size. One user commented that their one disappointment was the lack of colors available in the Mini version, saying “If all of the colors were available in the Premium model I would have given it 5 stars”. The reviewer also added “3.5 quarts is perfect for the type of baking she loves doing - totally sufficient for a large batch of cookies, a normal size cake, plenty of dough for rolls to serve at a family gathering”. One user commented that they had bought this mixer as a gift for their elderly mother, and that “the Mini is perfect and the handle on the mixing bowl also helps as we deal with some limitations caused by arthritis”. Many impressed users commented on the suitability of this Mini model for those with smaller kitchens, or who need a lighter appliance when it comes to maneuverability. The KitchenAid Artisan Mini stand mixer is an extremely well-rated appliance, with a 4.8-star rating out of five on Amazon from 374 user reviews. (Image credit: Amazon) KitchenAid Artisan Mini stand mixer: User reviews This process would also be improved by the addition of a splashguard, and it’s a shame that this model does not have one. This prevents huge clouds of flour, icing sugar or other ingredients from dropping onto the workstation or covering your walls. In terms of performance, this Mini model has a helpful feature to avoid mess a ‘soft start’ mechanism to avoid splashback, meaning the arm of your mixer will begin slowly before getting into the speed you’ve set out. It would be well suited to anyone with a smaller kitchen, a smaller family to cater for, or any health issues that make heavy lifting difficult. This should be enough for any home baker to get along with, though if you do need something a little more industrial for your baking output, then check out our Cuisinart Precision Master stand mixer review, which has a 5.5 quart bowl.Ĭrucially, the KitchenAid Artisan weighs in at just 16lbs, meaning it should be a lot easier to move and stash away than larger models. The 3.5 quart brushed stainless steel bowl included with this model is capable of mixing up to five dozen cookies, a loaf of bread and a full-sized cake. The selling point of the KitchenAid Artisan Mini is its pint-sized status it’s 20% smaller and 25% lighter than full-sized models, yet it retains the same amount of power, with 250 watts. (Image credit: KitchenAid ) KitchenAid Artisan Mini stand mixer: Size and performance Another bonus of this model is that the bowl, flat beater, dough hook and Flex Edge beater can be washed in the top shelf of a dishwasher, and massively speed up the cleaning process after you’ve made your culinary creations. These tools will allow an enthusiastic home baker to craft almost anything in their kitchen, and can be interchanged easily by lifting the tilt-head. This particular model comes with a six wire whip, dough hook and Flex Edge beater. Luckily however, for those who prefer to keep their kitchen colors a little more subtle, then over at Amazon you’ll be able to find shades like Matte Avocado Green, Matte White and Contour Silver too, though the range still isn’t as extensive as usual. While other models have over 40 colors to choose from, there are currently just three hues to pick from with the Mini on the KitchenAid website Black Matte, Empire Red and Candy Apple Red. One slight hindrance of the KitchenAid Artisan Mini is that the color palette available isn’t quite as wide as usual. It has lots of versatility packed into its small design, and doesn’t miss out on the easy to use features found in the other models, including all the benefits that come with the tilt-head design. It’s compatible with the range of attachments available from KitchenAid too - meaning you can use it to create pasta, grind meat, and make ice cream if you want to. That means it can go through a variety of different motions, from a gentle knead to a thorough whip, suitable for creating a range of different foods. KitchenAid Artisan Mini stand mixer: FeaturesĪs with its full-sized predecessor of the same name, the KitchenAid Artisan, the KitchenAid Artisan Mini stand mixer is equipped with a durable tilt-head to help with vigorous mixing, alongside ten different speeds. They are given different backstories used in several places to accelerate the plot. The remake fleshes out the four protagonists with names and personalities, which are different than the ones featured in the official manga. Over the course of their journey the Warriors of the Light are joined by several support characters who do not fight, but offer help on the world map. Though their genders are never specified, it is assumed the children are male. In the original Famicom version the player controls four generic Warriors of the Light, four children without distinct identities, who, upon finding the Wind Crystal, are granted its power to save the world. Out of the four party members and all 23 jobs there are 14,950 different party configurations. Final Fantasy III has a new class system: unlike the original Final Fantasy, where the player chooses each character's class at the beginning, and Final Fantasy II, that has no specific classes, Final Fantasy III introduces the job system the series would later become famous for. The experience point system featured in the original Final Fantasy returns following its absence from Final Fantasy II. The gameplay contains elements of the first two Final Fantasy games, along with some new features. Characters' job levels up (once per battle) after five actions, including defending, which has priority over any other action it pays to leave the last enemy alive until the fifth turn with the others defending while the first character kills it. Using a job for longer increases the characters' stats. Jobs grant the player characters abilities, such as Magic, and some special commands associated with specific jobs, such as Steal associated with the Thief and Jump associated with the Dragoon. When they find the Wind Crystal, it grants them its power, and instructs them to restore balance to the world.įinal Fantasy III introduces the job system, in which the four characters can equip one of twenty-three jobs, earned by finding crystals or completing sidequests. The story revolves around four Warriors of Light who begin as Onion Knights in the original release, although they are named Luneth, Arc, Refia and Ingus in the 3D remake. The original Famicom version introduced the earliest form of the job system, which has since become something of a Final Fantasy staple. It was directed by Hironobu Sakaguchi, with Nobuo Uematsu composing the score and Yoshitaka Amano providing the image design. It was later remade in 3D by Matrix Software and released worldwide for the Nintendo DS, with this version re-released for iOS, Android, the PlayStation Portable, Microsoft Windows, and other platforms.
